Artist Mini Bio:
David Archuleta is an American singer and songwriter born out of Miami Florida. He began singing at the early age of 6 after watching a video of the musical Les Miserables. Then at ten years old he competed and won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition leading to other television singing appearances.
At twelve, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2. He was very successful as a contestant and even competed against Alexandrea Lushington who later became a fellow American Idol finalist in 2007.
It was American Idol where David ultimately got his big break, and at sixteen years old he became one of the youngest finalists on the seventh season. He rose up through the competition, and in May 2008, became the runner-up on the show receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes. Despite placing second to music artist David Cook, Archuleta had truly made a name for himself.
In June of 2008 the music label Jive Records announced that they signed a contract with David, and soon after his first single title Crush was released in radio. It quickly became a hit and debuted at the number 2 spot on the billboard Hot 100. His debut album David Archuleta was released soon after and became a huge success. It has sold well over 500,000 copies.
