Artist Mini Bio:

David Cook is an American rock singer and songwriter who became famous after winning the seventh season of American Idol.

Cook became interested in music early on in life and even began singing in second grade. David received his first guitar at the age of 12. Throughout middle school and high school David was in choir and drama programs, performing in various musicals in high school including West Side Story, Singin’ in the Rain, and the Music Man.

Growing up David’s interests outside of music included baseball, though his true passion was music so he focused on that after his interest for baseball dwindled. After graduating college from the University of Central Missouri with a degree in graphic design, he decided pursued music and his dream was to enter a career in music by the age of 25. He once told his family that he just wanted to give himself until he is 25 to get a job.

In January 15, 2008 with the beginning of American Idol seventh season, Cook found his break. He unanimously rose to the top along side runner up David Archuleta, and on May 21, 2008 David was announced the winner, and a star was born.
